Every student is assigned a school based on their home address; this is called their neighborhood school. Non-neighborhood choice enrollment is choosing a school other than your neighborhood school.
We always recommend families start by checking out their neighborhood school. Each school hosts an enrollment open house, and families can always schedule a visit. But sometimes, your neighborhood school isn't the best fit for your student or your family. Families of students who wish to attend a school that is not their neighborhood school for the 2023-24 school year can submit an application online beginning Oct. 10, 2022.
- Oct. 10, 2022: Choice application opens for all grades
- Feb. 3, 2023: Choice application closes for grades 1-12
- March 17, 2023: Choice application closes for kindergarten
Applications are approved or denied based on school capacity and program availability. Decisions on choice applications are made within one month of choice deadlines and parents/guardians receive email notification from the Enrollment team. Transportation is not provided to students attending a choice school. And students attending a choice school follow the choice school’s feeder pattern for as long as they remain enrolled at TPS.
Please note IDEA, SAMI and SOTA have separate application processes.
In conjunction with the opening of Non-Neighborhood Choice, the application for new students for the 2023-24 school year opens on Oct. 10 as well.
