Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

Dear Arlington Families, 8/24/2022

I sincerely hope you had a wonderful, relaxing and fun summer! I want to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year as we prepare here to open the doors to our students on the first day of school, Thursday September 8, 2022. The daily schedule for school will be 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesday every week is a late start day for teachers to meet, analyze and discuss student progress and plan student instruction accordingly. School starts for students on all Late Start Wednesdays at 10:00 AM and school ends at 3:30 PM.

We ask that students arrive to school no earlier than 8:50 AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Late Start Wednesdays we ask for students to arrive no earlier than 9:50 AM. Supervision is not provided for students before those times. Students eat breakfast in their classrooms when they arrive to class and have Community and Social Emotional Time and Morning Announcements.

We are holding a meet the teacher event at Arlington from 4-5 PM the evening before school starts, September 7, 2022. Students and families will meet their new teacher and find their classrooms in preparation for the first day of school on September 8. Class lists will be posted that evening. On that night, we will have limited school supplies and back packs available for any students who need these items to start the school year.

The school supply lists for every grade level are posted here. Knowing that school supplies are very expensive this year, we want to point you to a free school supplies event at Giaudrone Middle School on August 27 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The address is: 4902 South Alaska Street, 98408. There is also a free school supply and free basketball clinic and tournament event being offered by Church of All Nations on August 26 and August 27, ages 5 and up. Click here or email Nichole.Thacker@cfan.church for more information.

Breakfast and lunch will be free again for all students in the 2022-2023 school year. However, we need families to fill out Tacoma Public Schools 2022-23 Household Information Survey. You will receive an email and link to the survey from Nutrition Services or can fill out a paper copy in the Arlington main office.

For bussing information, please visit the Transportation Services site and/or contact Arlington’s main office at 253-571-3200.

In order for students to attend school, all required immunizations must be up to date and recorded in our main office. Also, if your child requires special medications like inhalers and epi-pens, those items need to be stored in the main office before your child can attend

school. Contact the main office and school nurse, Marla Gonzalez to provide and complete those requirements before the start of school so there is no delay in when your child can be admitted to school.

We will go over current COVID guidance in a later communication.

We are also looking for interested and dedicated parents to be part of our Booster Club. Contact me for more information!

Finally, our Beyond the Bell program will continue this year! More information to come.

Looking forward to our learning and community partnerships in service of our students this year!

Sincerely,
Ronnee Fullerton, Principal, Arlington Elementary School.
